Le Grand Voyage (The Great Journey) follows Réda, a Westernised French-Moroccan teenager preparing for his university exams, who is suddenly expected to drive his devout, traditional father from southern France to Makkah for the Hajj pilgrimage. Reluctantly taking the wheel, Réda embarks on an arduous 5,000-kilometre journey with his father. Confined together in a cramped car as they cross several countries, father and son struggle to reconcile their vastly different worldviews, gradually confronting the distance between them.
